A little nursery rhyme

The not-so-bitsy spider climbed up the water spout
Into the sink where it made Whitney shout
Much to her dismay, it did not mind being wet
So Dustin had to come and stab the thing to death.

Here's the spider that jumped out from under a plate in the sink this morning while I was doing the dishes. We compared it to pictures on-line and feel pretty certain it is a brown recluse. Add that to the two large black widows out front whose webs I've gotten on me, and the bee I stepped on in the livingroom on the area rug (go figure!), and I am really chalking up the non-friendly insect encounters. Thankfully, only the bee has actually stung, and even then, it was minor. I'm just glad the spiders haven't bitten and that they have all steered clear of Jason. Now I just need to knock on wood or I'll wake up with a scorpion in my shoe.

Other updates. Two of the five offers we submitted on homes have been accepted. So now we have to choose between those two, or choose to keep looking. But it's nice to have options since we keep hearing stories about people who put down TONS of multiple offers, all over listing price, and don't get a single one.

Alos, since I wrote to you 9 days ago, Jason has gone from 3 teeth to 6. Perhaps that explains why he has been waking up 2-3 times a night for the last week or so. I'm hoping that means that when teething ends, he'll go back to sleeping through the night like he did for two glorious weeks a few months ago.

Here's the only picture I've found where you can kind of see any of Jason's teeth. He loves to bite you, but hates when you try and touch his mouth to see his teeth. Note that the first two bottom teeth came in apart. A third has come up between them to fill in that space (though all the teeth seem crooked and probably mean he'll need braces). There are also three teeth on top now.

Hope you're all doing well. Check your dishes in the sink before you wash them!

  1. That's definately a brown recluse. I saw them all over in Idaho, more often in our basement, in boxes, and closets. They live anywhere it's dark and moist and they're heat-seeking, so beware of climbing into bed unless you check your sheets. Put down spider traps in every corner and don't let Jason play on the floor unless you're down with him and don't forget to check his playpen b/c they like to climb up the material wall it's made of. They can also limb up the drain, so always check your bathtubs and run some water before getting in or putting baby in for a bath.
They're native to Africa, so they live in hot desert areas, of which Idaho and Arizona are. They came in a boat in a wood box of exotic fruit in the late 1940w or early 1950s.

One time in the middle of the night, my mom and I fell asleep on the couch together in her old basement apt. I felt something crawling on my leg all the way up to my collarbone. I grbbed it and threw it across the room into the kitchen. I ran to turn on the kitchen light and see what it was. I grabbed the nearest shoe and killed it. It was brown recluse and was bigger than your picture. They're nasty things. Be careful! We wouldn't want you to get bitten.

I'm glad that housing is looking up for you. Lars got a job at Rosemead High, so we're looking to rent a house, but it seems like we're going in one big circle- ie.nowhere. I can only imagine what it's like in the buyers market. =P Give that little guy a squeeze from me. Love you. You're all in our prayers.
